Bangladesh Samity Edinburgh

In May 1976 Bangladeshi countrymen managed to attract the Chief Commander of freedom fighters of Bangladesh , General Mohammad Ataul Gani Osmany BS to visit Edinburgh at a time when no Bangladeshi community Association existed. This visit was the seedling which inspired the formation of the Bangladesh Samity (Association) Edinburgh and an adhoc committee was convened by distinguished members of the Bangladeshi community in Edinburgh.

Next year, that is in 1977, the constitution of the association was written and the organization became complete. A remarkable number of the then community members were some research fellows living in Edinburgh for higher degrees. With their competent direction Bangladesh Association became a model (ideal) organization.
